  • Baciami Albana Di Romagna DOCG - Italy - $15.95

no longer availableFrom the wine cooperative of Le Rocche Malatestiane, named after the Malatesti family who played an important role in Rimini history, we have Albana di Romagna, one of precious few wines to be awarded DOCG status by Italian wine authorities and it is one that has quite a history. In Italian, "Baciami" means "Kiss me." And what could be more appropriate than the "kiss" of this sweet little wine? According to the story, when the Roman Princess Galla Placida first tasted this in AD 382,  she declared that this wine was so smooth it "should be drunk in gold." But that was then. So we'd say: if you don't have a gold cup to drink it in, don't worry - a simple wine glass will do just as well!

  • Domaine Saint Pierre De Serjac - France - $19.64

The domain of Saint Pierre de Serjac is at Puissalicon in the Hérault. It is built on the site of one of the 13 gallo-roman villas of the town. Shards of amphorae are often found there, witnesses to a wine-growing tradition established in the first centuries of our era.

Paul de Chefdebien's great-great-grandfather on his mother's side built the château, a Middle Age, "folly" and an architectural symbol of the heyday of viticulture in the Languedoc. It has now become the symbol of a transition towards a production of quality local wines, the "Vins de Pays".

The terroir consists of hillsides of calcareous clay, which is very good for red grape varieties (Merlot, Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon) and of marl which favours the production of white wines which are silky and round in the mouth (Chardonnay, Vermentino and Muscat Petit Grain). In the same way as at the Abbaye des Monges, we favour a minimum tillage and controlled natural plant cover in order best to preserve the biological balance of the soils and encourage "green manure".

This particular wine is a blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 25% Carignan.

A friendly wine with a nose of cherry and thyme.

Serve at 62 degrees with grilled meats and cheeses.

The property is on difficult clay soils in the Fins Bois region of the Cognac Appellation.

A dessert or aperitif wine, made from a blend of lightly-fermented grape must and Cognac. In 1589, a wine maker accidentally added grape must into a barrel that he believed was empty but in fact contained cognac. Two years later it was unearthed and hence Pineau was born. The resulting drink is between 16 and 22% ABV. Pineau des Charentes should be served chilled (8-10°C) in a tulip-shaped glass such as a sherry glass. The taper of this type of glass better enhances the aroma of the wine. Pineau des Charentes does not benefit from ageing. However, storing unopened bottles away from sources of light will do no harm to the wine, although bottles should be stored upright to reduce the exposed surface area. Once opened, Pineau des Charentes will keep for some time in the fridge.

  • Milton Park Shiraz - South Australia - $14.95

    Milton Park ShirazTHE BRAND

Our Milton Park range of wines is made from grapes sourced from our own vineyards and other select vineyard sites in South Australia, this allows consistent quality year to year.

The nose is lifted berry fruits, with hints of dark chocolate and spice. The palate is medium bodied with intense plummy fruit. This plummy fruit fills the whole palate and combined with the soft and approachable tannins creates a very mouth filling wine. The length of flavour is long with plumy and liquorice fruit and spicy oak.

An above average wet spring and cooler than average summer temperatures led to a later start to picking than normal. This combined with a long and mild ripening period meant that our fruit developed to a beautiful level of maturity on the vine. This has led to outstanding flavours and elegant, expressive wines.

The grapes are crushed and de-stemmed into fermenters. Yeast is added immediately once in fermenter and the ferments are pumped over twice daily to maximise colour, tannin and flavour extraction. Cooling is used to ensure ferment temperatures remain in the 71-77 degree fahrenheit range which will allow the fruit to display maximum fruit expression. Pressing then occurs approximately seven days after crushing and the wine is then put into predominantly American oak to mature.

Vi Novell means “New Wine” in Catalan. This wine is traditionally released on November 11 to celebrate ‘San Marti’ or Saint Martin. In the 4th Century, San Marti was a soldier and on a snowy and cold night he gave half of his cloak to a beggar to save him from the cold. The following night he had a vision of Christ wearing the half of the cloak he had given away to the beggar. Christ then told the angels who accompanied him that it was “Saint Martin the non baptized soldier who clothed him.” After this vision San Marti became a Christian and created the first monastery in Western Europe (Loire region of France) and became a monk. Vi Novell is a blend of Grenache (55%) and Carignan (40%) with (5%) Syrah produced with carbonic and traditional fermentation over five days and pressed. It is made using indigenous yeast. The alcoholic fermentation was finished off without the skins in underground tanks.
It is vinified and bottled almost immediately to be released on the 11th of November every year.
Varietal: Grenache and Carignan blended with Syrah from 16-26 year old vines.
    Alcohol: 14.5%
Tasting Notes: Light ruby in color leads to a nose of fresh strawberries and raspberries with notes of violets and bananas; earthy with typical Mediterranean aromas. Fresh and fruity on the palate with hints of cacao and bold tannins, finishes light and well balance with good fruit and acidity.
Food Pairings: St. Martin’s Day in Spain is marked by the slaughter of fattened pigs, so think pork! Grilled meats, bacon wrapped chicken (bacon wrapped anything really), or dishes with “the other white meat.”

    Vino De Mercado

Our main goal is to produce wines with an extreme personality in an area where we think that it is very unique to grow grapes and make very interesting wines.

The project was born in 2009 with the vision of producing great wines in a remote and surprising region. Several varieties are very well adapted to the climate, the soils and the altitude of this region of Spain, making it possible to produce wines with character and a definite sense of place.

Padules, is the village where Pagos de Indalia is located, it is nestled on the Andarax creek between Sierra Nevada and Sierra Gador. This landscape, with big ravines and big slopes, forces us to use mules in many of our vineyards where you cannot use machines and you have to travel back to the old times to take care of the grapes.

The vineyards are calcareous in the area of the Andarax creek and amazing slate soils closer to Sierra Nevada, in the highest vineyards, where elevations top 3300 feet over sea level.

    The beginning of our adventure.

Our philosophy is to preserve the environment of the region. All the vineyards that we own are certified by the government of Andalucia with the stamp of organic agriculture.

VARIETAL:  50% Syrah / 50% Temp.  The Syrah has been very well adapted to the calcareous soils that we have around Padules. The Tempranillo

Is in the highest altitudes and grown in very dry soils. Those vines are alive just with the humidity of the Alborán sea mist. This particular microclimate combined with the slate soils and with a huge difference in temperature between day/night, allows us to produce wines with a mineral character that are very age worthy.  We produced this wine in collaboration with Gretchen Thomas, Barcelona’s Corporate Director of Beverage. Please Enjoy!
