A while ago, Max, Sweet Samantha, Bouffant Bailey and Mellow Meadow made a donation to Bliss Animal Haven in Loganville, Georgia on behalf of Toby, the dog shot in the face by some mean, horrible two-legged person.

Recently, Jessie and Nancy, the Directors of the organization, sent them this update on Toby's condition:

Hello donors! 

After two months of intense care and five surgeries to his face, Toby is nearing the end of his recovery!  He has been in foster care with the couple who first found him, Melanie and her husband Dave, who is a police officer.  They have been right by his side this whole time, ensuring he gets special food and cleaning out his nasal cavity every few hours (yuck!), and keeping up with over a dozen medications and at least as many follow up trips to the vet.

Toby had clearly never lived indoors, but he is learning the ropes and becoming a spoiled and happy boy!

He has gained over 12 lbs and is even a bit mischievous now!

He has a couple more weeks recovery time from this last surgery (done on April 5th) where the vet removed the last of his shattered teeth and jaw bone.  The damage inside his mouth was very extensive. He does have one tiny fragment of bullet remaining in his nasal cavity but it cannot be removed and is not causing him any harm.

Toby loves everyone he meets!  He continues to be a sweet and loving dog, despite the horrible thing that happened to him.  He has had several visitors over the last few weeks as well :)

We want to thank each and every one of you for stepping up to contribute to his medical bills!  Toby would not have this second chance without your support.  We are deeply grateful to you and appreciate how you’ve helped us to help Toby.  He is one of many dogs that we rescue and we could not continue to do this work without a community of supporters.
