Kremstal, Austria
Hermann Moser Rosi Mosi Sparkling Rosé Brut is a beautiful wine gem that shows off this signature red varietal of Austria, Zweigelt. Weingut Hermann Moser is run by Martin and his wife Carmen Moser. The estate is 300 years old and is located in the village of Rohrendorf in the Kremstal wine-growing region in Lower Austria. The vineyards cover 19 hectares and are the best vineyards from Rohrendorf. The Gebling vineyard is mainly planted on terraces; it is on a steep slope located north of Rohrendorf reaching towards Krems. The soil is one of the highest loess sediments in Europe. The grapes were hand harvested in mid-October. The juice was fermented at 19º centigrade in stainless steel tanks and bottled in early March to preserve optimum freshness.
Rosi Mosi Sparkling Rosé comes from the Wolfsgraben vineyard, 'the Wolf’s Lair', located in a scenic area with a long history. On a high plateau, the vineyard is planted against the slope of a deep depression, creating a sort of a bowl. Archives from 1284 describe this vineyard as being located against a slope, with a rich loamy soil, growing thriving vines and fruits producing exceptional wines. The Zweigelt grape varietal was created by Dr. Fritz Zweigelt in 1922 and is a cross between St. Laurent and Blaufrankish. It is the most planted red variety in Austria covering 14% of the total vineyards' surface.
Rosi Mosi Sparkling Rosé is a pale pink-salmon in color with a bright nose of strawberry and red crushed fruits. On the palate, high-tone red fruits carry forward with nice weight and balance matched by ample zing.
Enjoy Hermann Moser Rosi Mosi as a lovely aperitif wine and with grilled halibut, lobster, roast chicken, summer salads and spicy Asian dishes.
